In summer
of 2007, we discovered that the property owners
where our Bearded Iris stock was being hosted
were proceeding with the division of their
assets. All of our plant stock was immediately
removed and transferred to a new location in the
city. Because of limited new space, only a
handful of each of our 300+ named cultivars were
planted. To reduce our losses, the surplus
rhizomes were potted up for future sales.
Because our newly planted inventory is now at a
minimum, the plants will remain undisturbed in
the gardens until such time they have
sufficiently increased. This process, depending
on cultivars, can take years to produce
sufficient stock to market.
Regrettably, our 2008 Bearded Iris season will
consist of those potted up cultivars to be made
available at LOCAL GARDEN MARKETS & FAIRS
only.
